Tips For New Guitar Players 6
I’ve been playing guitar for over 40 years. Along the way I have received some great advice. I have also learned a lot of things the hard way and through experience. I would like to share some of that advice with you. These are in no particular order.
You should try to memorize songs you like. Memorizing is just a matter of playing the same thing over and over (repetition) until you can remember it. It is a great skill to develop, and every musician should have numerous songs they can play without the aid of written music. Pick a favorite tune and play it several times over several days. Then try to play it without looking at the music. Start with the intro, then add a verse, then the chorus, then any other parts like the bridge or solo. Then try the whole song. If you don’t make it through the whole song, check the music to see what you forgot. Keep at it. Eventually you should be able to play the whole thing without written music. Then start on another song.
